Artist Statement:
I am an interdisciplinary artist; I love to explore and learn by working with different materials, processes and mediums because this often brings new discoveries and creative ideas through the relationships these mediums begin to have with each other. My detailed drawings are time-intensive processes that allow me to meditate on events and emotions as I work through them. The mobiles are a more playful expression that turns what we see as children into something new and transformed that reflects sunlight into rainbows in dancing patterns around their environments. These mobiles also address intergenerational trauma and the ingrained patterns that get passed down through generations. I grew up in an environment where it was not safe for me to express myself, so making art became my outlet and my escape. Learning, curiosity, and expression help me cope with the heavier parts of existence, this has helped inform the interdisciplinary nature of my work. I enjoy investigating natural patterns and thinking about the relationships between order and chaos. Ideas of reality, the limits of human perception, and the investigation of concepts and techniques keep meĀ  interested. The expression of emotion and connection with people through the work keep me fulfilled, engaged, and invested.
