“Saturnine Saturday IV” Watercolor and Ink, Saturn has frequently been used as a symbol of melancholy. “The Intellectual’s disease.” It is possible to know too much, to see too clearly, and to short-circuit the simple joy of just breathing. Saturn is the root word for “Saturnine” which describes a kind of slow gloomy approach to life.
