Description
Anne Reese Hernandez | 20” x 24” | watercolor on watercolor paper | Self Portrait
There are many ways to make a stand as a preservationist. Artist Anne Reese Hernandez not only lives in a charming turn-of-the-century Victorian cottage in the heart of the Houston Heights, but for nearly 20 years she has painted and drawn scenes from the neighborhood – historic homes, churches, shops and local period architecture.
Most of the historic structures depicted in her work are still intact, and rendered in a folk art style, featuring cheerful and bright acrylic color on canvas, a match for Victorian houses, and colorful gardens. Anne also works in watercolor on paper, and there are works which are all pointillism. Her images are windows in time, quaint and compelling. Her work is widely collected and she is a prolific painter who has been showing for decades.
